The DA VINCI CODE

by kaowinston @ 2006-05-19 - 20:04:00

Does a great book set the stage for a great movie? According to booksellers, The Da Vinci code has sold over 50 million copies. That should make it a great certainty for a worldwide audience. It is assumed all those who read the book will naturally want to see the movie version.

That's the theory. The film which finally opens this week after some delay, will definitely test this theory. So far the critics have been unkind, the reviews generally being unfavourable. Yet, it was not althogether total condemnation. The feeling, I have, is after all the hype, the creative product fell short.

What will the public think? The jury is still out. By the end of next week we will have a better idea. Have you seen The Da Vinci Code? Let us know what you think.

Welcome to Kaowinston Movie Zone

moviezone

This is a blog about films. It could be about films you like. It could also be about films you dislike. Yet, it could be a blog which tell us about your favourites, new or old, and especially those which defy categories.

The movie industry is still heavily dominated by America. We don't want end up discussing only American films : we welcome films from all corners of the world. Commentary or reviews, about comtemporary films, are particularly welcome, as these will serve as a starting point for debates about creative film making. But, do feel free to wax eloquent about older genres.

Lists of great favourites are allowed. But please give us a real insight as to why they are your favourites.

We look forward to hearing from you.
